Dear ACS Calvert Secondary Families,

CONGRATULATIONS to Ms. Ana Mendez and all the performers at last night’s Hard Rock Cafe showcase. What a wonderful display of talent! Thank you to those who were able to attend and support our student musicians. 

As we close out Quarter 1, I want to extend heartfelt thanks for the energy and support you’ve shown our students and school. Monday’s Classroom Without Walls Learning Fair was a joy, hearing students reflect on what they learned, whether from local projects or travel experiences, reminded us why these programs matter. 

Thank you as well to the parents who joined the conversation with our second candidate for Superintendent; your perspective is essential, and we ask that you please complete the feedback survey if you haven’t already. I’m also grateful to everyone who attended Friday’s Quarter 1 “What’s On Your Mind?” coffee; your thoughtful questions and ideas help guide our work.

With the quarter now complete, reports will be released via email on Monday, October 13. We encourage families to read them together, celebrate growth, and note goals for the next stretch of learning. Looking ahead, the October Break runs from Monday–Friday, October 13–17; we wish everyone a safe, restful week.

Please also mark your calendars for a few important dates:

The Halloween Fair will be held on Friday, October 31; BRACELETS FOR ENTRY MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE, and we’ll share purchase details soon. 

All Souls Day falls on Monday, November 3, and there will be no school that day. 

On Friday, November 7, we will host Parent–Teacher–Student Conferences. Sign-up information will be sent shortly; please be extremely punctual so we can honor everyone’s time and ensure each conference runs smoothly.

Enjoy the break, and we look forward to a strong start to Quarter 2.

Queridas familias de Secundaria de ACS Calvert:

Al cerrar el Primer Trimestre, deseo expresar mi sincero agradecimiento por la energía y el apoyo que han brindado a nuestros estudiantes y a la escuela. La Feria de Aprendizaje de Classroom Without Walls del lunes fue una alegría; escuchar a los estudiantes reflexionar sobre lo que aprendieron, ya sea en proyectos locales o en experiencias de viaje, nos recordó por qué estos programas son tan valiosos.

Gracias también a las familias que participaron en la conversación con nuestra segunda candidata para Superintendente; su perspectiva es esencial y les pedimos que completen la encuesta de retroalimentación si aún no lo han hecho. Asimismo, agradezco a quienes asistieron al café “What’s On Your Mind?” del viernes del Primer Trimestre; sus preguntas e ideas, tan bien pensadas, orientan nuestro trabajo.

Con el trimestre concluido, los reportes se enviarán por correo electrónico el lunes 13 de octubre. Invitamos a las familias a leerlos juntos, celebrar los avances y anotar metas para la siguiente etapa de aprendizaje. Mirando hacia adelante, el Receso de Octubre será de lunes a viernes, del 13 al 17 de octubre; les deseamos una semana segura y reparadora.

Por favor, tomen nota de estas fechas importantes:

  • La Feria de Halloween se llevará a cabo el viernes 31 de octubre; LAS PULSERAS DE ENTRADA DEBEN COMPRARSE CON ANTICIPACIÓN. Pronto compartiremos más detalles sobre la compra.

  • El Día de los Fieles Difuntos es el lunes 3 de noviembre; no habrá clases ese día.

  • El viernes 7 de noviembre realizaremos las Conferencias Padre–Docente–Estudiante. En breve enviaremos la información para inscribirse; les pedimos puntualidad extrema para honrar el tiempo de todas las familias y asegurar que cada conferencia se desarrolle sin contratiempos.

Gracias por su confianza, su colaboración y su compromiso con nuestros estudiantes.

Disfruten del receso; esperamos con entusiasmo un comienzo sólido del Segundo Trimestre.

From creative academic showcases and experiences to meaningful moments of celebration, our campus has been alive with purpose, pride, and joy. Impactful teaching and learning continues to take place throughout our campus. A couple of examples this week include high school Social Science students engaging in interview simulations with outside guests - a meaningful real-world experience that will surely yield long term impact.
