Dear Secondary Community ~

This week we celebrate the wonderful spirit and accomplishments of our Middle School athletes and cheerleaders, who gave their all during the MS Cougar Cup for soccer and volleyball. Congratulations to every student who competed with heart and determination! A special thank you as well to our enthusiastic fans—your energy and support made the event even more memorable. 

Looking ahead, next week brings our much-anticipated Classroom Without Walls (CWW) week. These experiences are always a highlight of the year, and we know this one will be a success for every student, whether traveling or participating in our local program. Please note that I will be away from campus next week; Ms. Carolina Soliz will be here to support you with any questions or needs that arise and can be contacted at: carolina.soliz@acslp.org 

This week also brought unique opportunities for our students: In Grade 11 English, students met illustrator and author Vicente Loayza, who has published his own comics and a graphic novel. He shared valuable insights on the creative process and the path to publishing original work. 

We hosted a very special Lions Club International induction ceremony, where more than 20 new members were welcomed into this service-oriented community. This is the first time ACS has partnered with Lions Club, and we are excited for the long-term impact and growth this partnership will bring to our students. 

A few important reminders: 

There is no school for students on Friday, September 19th. This is a Professional Learning Day for our faculty. 

Progress reports were sent via email last week. Please take time to review them with your child and acknowledge receipt by replying to the email. 

On Friday, September 26, students will remain on campus (if they are back from traveling) to prepare for their CWW Learning Fair presentations (scheduled for October 6). Students who have secured parental permission, completed their presentations, and practiced presenting them with peers at least twice will have the option to depart at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. More details about the Learning Fair will follow soon. 

 Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Ms. Alejandra from LIVE Education and Ms. Daniela from Credifondo for hosting our high school students in internships as part of their local CWW experience. We are delighted to add these special opportunities to the program and know our students will gain invaluable skills and insights. 

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our students and programs. And thank you to those of you who participated in meetings with the first of two candidates to be the next ACS Superintendent. Please watch for information regarding the second candidate's visit that is tentatively scheduled for October 7 and 8.

Queridas Familias de Secundaria,

Esta semana celebramos el espíritu y los logros de nuestros atletas y porristas de Middle School, quienes lo dieron todo durante la Copa Cougar de MS en fútbol y voleibol. ¡Felicitaciones a cada estudiante que compitió con corazón y determinación! Un agradecimiento especial también a nuestros entusiastas seguidores—su energía y apoyo hicieron que el evento fuera aún más memorable.

De cara a la próxima semana, llega nuestra tan esperada semana de Classroom Without Walls (CWW). Estas experiencias siempre son un punto culminante del año y sabemos que esta será un éxito para cada estudiante, ya sea viajando o participando en nuestro programa local. Tomen en cuenta que la próxima semana no estaré en el campus; la Sra. Carolina Soliz estará disponible para apoyarlos con cualquier consulta o necesidad. Esta semana también trajo oportunidades únicas para nuestros estudiantes:

  • En la clase de Inglés de 11º grado, los estudiantes conocieron al ilustrador y autor Vicente Loayza, quien ha publicado sus propios cómics y una novela gráfica. Compartió valiosos consejos sobre el proceso creativo y el camino para publicar un trabajo original.

  • Fuimos anfitriones de una ceremonia muy especial de inducción al Lions Club International, en la que más de 20 nuevos miembros fueron bienvenidos a esta comunidad de servicio. Es la primera vez que ACS se asocia con Lions Club y estamos emocionados por el impacto a largo plazo y el crecimiento que esta colaboración traerá a nuestros estudiantes.

Algunos recordatorios importantes:

  • No hay clases para los estudiantes el viernes 19 de septiembre. Este es un día de formación profesional para nuestro profesorado.

  • Los informes de progreso fueron enviados por email la semana pasada. Por favor, tómense el tiempo de revisarlos con sus hijos y responder al email confirmado que el reporte ha sido recibido.

  • El viernes 26 de septiembre, los estudiantes permanecerán en el campus (si ya han regresado de sus viajes) para preparar sus presentaciones de la Feria de Aprendizaje de CWW (programada para el 6 de octubre). Los estudiantes que cuenten con permiso de sus padres, que hayan completado sus presentaciones y practicado al menos dos veces con sus compañeros, tendrán la opción de salir del campus a la 1:30 p.m. el viernes. Más detalles sobre la Feria de Aprendizaje se compartirán pronto.

Finalmente, un sincero agradecimiento a la Sra. Alejandra de LIVE Education y a la Sra. Daniela de Credifondo por recibir a nuestros estudiantes de secundaria como pasantes en sus organizaciones, como parte de la experiencia local de CWW. Nos alegra mucho añadir estas oportunidades especiales a nuestro programa y sabemos que nuestros estudiantes obtendrán aprendizajes y habilidades invaluables.

Gracias, como siempre, por su continuo apoyo a nuestros estudiantes y programas. Y gracias a quienes participaron en las reuniones con el primero de dos candidatos para ser el próximo Superintendente de ACS. Por favor estén atentos a la información sobre la visita del segundo candidato, que está tentativamente programada para el 7 y 8 de octubre.
