Dear Secondary Community ~

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Carnaval break! I had the good fortune of going to Oruro on Saturday and it was a wonderful experience! What a spectacular celebration!

On Thursday and Friday, MS and HS students had the opportunity to meet with Kimberly Minich or Eduardo Torres from Pathways for Prevention. Please ask your children whether they chose to attend and what they learned. 

Upcoming Events & Important Dates

🔹 Middle School Cougar Cup – March 10-13
We are excited to host the Middle School Cougar Cup on our campus after school from March 10 to 13. This event will bring together our middle school students for friendly competition, teamwork, and school spirit. We encourage families to come cheer on our teams!

🔹 Cultural Convention in Santa Cruz – March 13-15
A group of 20 students will be traveling to Santa Cruz to participate in the Cultural Convention from March 13 to 15, accompanied by Ms. Baldivieso and Mr. Adachi. We wish them the best as they showcase their talents and represent our school!

🔹 Special Schedule & Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences – March 17-21
During the last week of the quarter, March 17-21, we will follow a special schedule:
✅ Monday-Thursday: Students will attend two extended class periods per day and will have an extended block with their Advisor for WSN Time (What Students Need) - this time is dedicated to completed projects and reviewing for assessments.
✅ Friday, March 21: Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences will take place.

Conference Day Details:

  • Prescheduled Appointments: Conferences may be attended in person or virtually.
  • Required Conferences: Some students and parents will be required to attend conferences; those families will receive a notification and must register for a time slot in advance.
  • Drop-in Session: From 1:45-3:30 PM in the Secondary Library (no appointment needed).

🔹 Middle School MAP Testing – April 1-16
Middle school students will take the MAP tests between April 1 and April 16. More details will be shared as the testing dates approach.

Querida comunidad de secundaria:

¡Espero que todos hayan tenido un maravilloso descanso de Carnaval! Tuve la suerte de ir a Oruro el sábado, ¡y fue una experiencia increíble! ¡Qué celebración tan espectacular!

El jueves y viernes, los estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria tuvieron la oportunidad de reunirse con Kimberly Minich o Eduardo Torres de Pathways for Prevention. Pregúnteles a sus hijos si decidieron asistir y qué aprendieron.

Próximos eventos y fechas importantes

🔹 Cougar Cup de Middle School – 10-13 de marzo
Nos emociona organizar la Cougar Cup de Middle School en nuestro campus después de clases del 10 al 13 de marzo. Este evento reunirá a nuestros estudiantes de secundaria para una competencia amistosa, trabajo en equipo y espíritu escolar. ¡Animamos a las familias a venir y apoyar a nuestros equipos!

🔹 Convención Cultural en Santa Cruz – 13-15 de marzo
Un grupo de 20 estudiantes viajará a Santa Cruz para participar en la Convención Cultural del 13 al 15 de marzo, acompañados por la Sra. Baldivieso y el Sr. Adachi. ¡Les deseamos mucho éxito mientras demuestran sus talentos y representan a nuestra escuela!

🔹 Horario especial y conferencias entre padres, estudiantes y profesores – 17-21 de marzo
Durante la última semana del trimestre, del 17 al 21 de marzo, seguiremos un horario especial:
✅ Lunes a jueves: Los estudiantes asistirán a dos períodos de clase extendidos por día y tendrán un bloque adicional con su asesor para el tiempo WSN (What Students Need). Este tiempo estará dedicado a completar proyectos y repasar para evaluaciones.
✅ Viernes 21 de marzo: Se llevarán a cabo las conferencias entre padres, estudiantes y profesores.

Detalles del día de conferencias:

  • Citas programadas: Las conferencias podrán realizarse de manera presencial o virtual.
  • Conferencias obligatorias: Algunos estudiantes y sus familias deberán asistir obligatoriamente; estos recibirán una notificación y deberán registrarse con anticipación.
  • Sesión abierta: De 1:45 p.m. a 3:30 p.m. en la biblioteca de secundaria (no se necesita cita previa).

🔹 Pruebas MAP en Middle School – 1-16 de abril
Los estudiantes de Middle School realizarán las pruebas MAP entre el 1 y el 16 de abril. Compartiremos más detalles a medida que se acerquen las fechas de evaluación.

From creative academic showcases and experiences to meaningful moments of celebration, our campus has been alive with purpose, pride, and joy. Impactful teaching and learning continues to take place throughout our campus. A couple of examples this week include high school Social Science students engaging in interview simulations with outside guests - a meaningful real-world experience that will surely yield long term impact.
