Secondary Principal Weekly Update

Dear Secondary School Community ~

On Wednesday this week, our entire staff gathered in the auditorium to view a presentation by members of the Senior Leadership Team, along with Carolina Blanco and Elba Beyer. The purpose of this presentation, “That State of the School,” was to share the many achievements we have accomplished this year, as well as steps we have planned to continue in our journey of ongoing improvement. Please join us at the Secondary Parent Coffee in the Library at 8:15 to hear the highlights from this presentation that pertain to our Secondary School. We look forward to seeing you there!

On Wednesday of this week, two groups of faculty from both divisions will begin working on developing ACS Approaches to Learning and ACS Approaches to Teaching. Our objectives are to identify the skills our students need to be successful learners, and the strategies we need to apply as teachers to be successful teachers. This work will guide our next steps of developing a shared understanding of high-quality learning, along with our desired “Profile of an ACS Graduate” and “Profile of an ACS Teacher.” We look forward to sharing the results of this work with the community in the future. 

Please mark your calendars for the online parent meetings with Eduardo Torres from Pathways for Prevention. The meeting with MS parents will take place on Tuesday, February 11th, at 6:30pm, and the meeting with HS parents will take place on Thursday, February 13th, at 6:30pm. The links will be shared closer to the meeting dates. For those of you who were not able to meet Eduardo in August, I am confident that you will be appreciative of his time and find attending the meetings to be well worthwhile!

A reminder that Mid-quarter Progress Reports will be sent via email on Wednesday, February 12th. These are issued for students achieving at below 70%. Please encourage your child to speak to their teachers if they are not sure as to their achievement level in their courses at this stage in the quarter.

Estimado Comunidad Secundaria ~

Este miércoles, todo nuestro personal se reunió en el auditorio para ver una presentación de miembros del Equipo de Liderazgo Senior, junto con Carolina Blanco y Elba Beyer. El propósito de esta presentación, "El Estado de la Escuela", fue compartir los muchos logros que hemos alcanzado este año, así como los pasos que hemos planeado para continuar nuestro camino de mejora continua. Los invitamos a unirse a nosotros en el Secondary Parent Coffee en la biblioteca a las 8:15 para conocer los aspectos más destacados de esta presentación relacionados con nuestra Escuela Secundaria. ¡Esperamos verlos allí!

Este miércoles, dos grupos de docentes de ambas divisiones comenzarán a trabajar en el desarrollo de los ACS Approaches to Learning y los ACS Approaches to Teaching. Nuestros objetivos son identificar las habilidades que nuestros estudiantes necesitan para ser aprendices exitosos y las estrategias que debemos aplicar como docentes para ser maestros efectivos. Este trabajo nos guiará en los próximos pasos para desarrollar una comprensión compartida del aprendizaje de alta calidad, junto con nuestro esperado "Perfil de un Graduado de ACS" y "Perfil de un Docente de ACS". Esperamos compartir los resultados de este trabajo con la comunidad en el futuro.

Por favor, marquen sus calendarios para las reuniones en línea con Eduardo Torres de Pathways for Prevention. La reunión con los padres de MS se llevará a cabo el martes 11 de febrero a las 6:30 p.m., y la reunión con los padres de HS será el jueves 13 de febrero a las 6:30 p.m. Los enlaces serán compartidos más cerca de las fechas de las reuniones. Para aquellos que no pudieron conocer a Eduardo en agosto, estoy seguro de que apreciarán su tiempo y encontrarán muy valiosa su participación en las reuniones.

Les recordamos que los Mid-quarter Progress Reports se enviarán por correo electrónico el miércoles 12 de febrero. Estos informes se emiten para los estudiantes que tienen un rendimiento inferior al 70%. Les pedimos que animen a sus hijos a hablar con sus profesores si no están seguros de su nivel de logro en sus cursos en esta etapa del trimestre.

From creative academic showcases and experiences to meaningful moments of celebration, our campus has been alive with purpose, pride, and joy. Impactful teaching and learning continues to take place throughout our campus.
